NEW YORK, June 3 (UPI) -- St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has been slapped with a one-game suspension and a fine after making contact with an umpire, MLB announced Monday.
Molina had an on-field meltdown in the third inning of Sunday's 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants after he was called out on a close play first base.

The catcher argued vehemently and bumped umpire Mike Everitt during the tirade, eventually earning an ejection.
Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny was also tossed out of the game.
Molina has filed an appeal, and so was in the lineup for Monday's contest against Arizona. He will remain available until his appeal is heard.
