NEW YORK, May 31 (UPI) -- CC Sabathia turned in a solid outing Friday and the New York Yankees welcomed back two key players in a 4-1 decision over Boston.
Teixeira has been on the 60-day disabled list after suffering a strained wrist tendon playing in the World Baseball Classic. Youkilis, who signed a one-year deal worth $12 million during the off-season, has been out of action for a month with a lower back strain.
Sabathia (5-4) ended a five-start winless streak by surrendering a lone run on six hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks over 7 1/3 innings. Mariano Rivera came on in a non-save situation in the ninth and allowed two hits without giving up a run.
Teixeira walked and scored the game's first run on a single by Jason Nix in the second. Youkilis drove in a run with a single in the fifth.
The loss went to Jon Lester (6-2), who made the 200th appearance of his career. He allowed four runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. It was Boston's third setback in four games.
