MLB: Pittsburgh 1, Detroit 0 (11 innings)

DETROIT, May 29 (UPI) -- A solo home run by Neil Walker in the top of the 11th inning Tuesday snapped a scoreless tie and gave the Pittsburgh Pirates a 1-0 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Walker, batting with one out, swung at the first offering from Jose Ortega (0-2) and sent a slider sailing far over the right field fence at Comerica Park.

Jason Grilli struck out the Tigers in the bottom of the inning for his 21st save. Bullpen mate Mark Melancon (1-0) stranded two Detroit runners in the 10th to earn the win.

The pitching duel featured solid outings from both starters. Pittsburgh's Jeanmar Gomez allowed three hits over seven innings while Rick Porcello went eight innings, allowing three hits and striking out 11.
