Group stage matches in the 24-team tournament will be played in Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov and Lvov. Playoff games will be played in Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk, and Kiev will host the title game.
The ceremony Friday in the capital, which kicked off construction for the sports arena, also featured remarks from Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, RIA Novosti reported Friday.
Azarov said Arena Kiev will hold 17,402 spectators and will be equipped to host hockey games and music concerts.
