DENVER, May 21 (UPI) -- Patrick Corbin fired a complete-game three-hitter Monday and the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks cruised to a 5-1 victory over Colorado.
Corbin (7-0) turned in his ninth straight start of allowing two or fewer earned runs with the dominating performance while lowering his ERA to 1.44.
The left-hander allowed only one run and struck out 10 in the 97-pitch gem, which boosted the National League West-leading D-backs to a fifth win six games.
Didi Gregorius went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Eric Chavez added three hits, including an RBI single, as Arizona claimed the opener of a three-game series.
Rockies starter Jon Garland (3-5) was touched for five runs on 11 hits over six full frames.
Jordan Pacheco recorded Colorado's only RBI.
