Rain washes out Strasbourg International

May 20, 2013 at 2:26 PM   |   Comments

STRASBOURG, France, May 20 (UPI) -- First-round matches in the main draw at the Strasbourg International tennis tournament were rained out Monday.

Seven matches, including one pitting top-seeded Marion Bartoli against Camila Giorgi, were postponed due to rain. That forced organizers to load Tuesday's schedule with all 16 first-round matches.

The tournament is on a compressed schedule and is to have its final Saturday. Most tournaments have title matches Sunday but, with the French Open beginning next week, this week's tournaments need to finish Saturday.
