Lu tops Seppi in Nice Open first-round match

NICE, France, May 20 (UPI) -- Lu Yen-Hsun claimed a three-set upset victory Monday in a first-round match at the Nice Open tennis tournament in France.

Lu took out fifth-seeded Andreas Seppi 7-5, 1-6, 6-4. Lu took the tight first set but Seppi dominated the second. Lu came back with three third-set breaks to finish the upset.

Carlos Berlocq ran through a 6-2, 6-1 romp over Leonardo Mayer in 59 minutes. Berlocq lost just two points over seven games serving and cashing in five of his six break opportunities. Berlocq won 53-of-75 -- 70 percent -- points in the match.

Robin Haase was on the court 1 more minute than Berlocq as he advanced with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Marinko Matosevic. He was 6-for-6 in break opportunities.

Pablo Andujar was a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 winner over Lleyton Hewitt and Victor Hanescu, playing for 2 hours, 43 minutes, got past Albert Ramos 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in other first-round matches Monday.
