Drugs, weapons charges against Jets' RB may darken future with team

NEW YORK, May 20 (UPI) -- New York Jets running back Mike Goodson may lose his spot on the team after his arrest on weapons and drug charges, a teammate says.

New Jersey police discovered Goodson and another man possibly intoxicated inside a van stopped alongside a state highway Friday night. After a search of the vehicle, Goodson was arrested on suspicion of possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a loaded handgun, unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of hollow-point bullets.

Offensive lineman Willie Colon said the charges may mean Goodson will be off the team, NFL.com reported Sunday.

"It's one of the things where it's zero-tolerance with stuff like that," Colon said. "It's sad. Mike could have been huge for us."

A spokesman for the Jets declined to comment on how the charges against Goodson may affect his future with the team. "We are still gathering information," the spokesman said Friday.
