MLB: Arizona 9, Miami 2

MIAMI, May 17 (UPI) -- Paul Goldschmidt hit a two-run homer in each of his first two trips to the plate Friday, powering Arizona to a 9-2 victory over Miami.

The Diamondbacks scored three times in the first and third innings with Goldschmidt highlighting both outbursts.

Arizona won its third in a row and the Miami losing streak was extended to six games.

Gerardo Parra doubled to open the contest for the Diamondbacks and Goldschmidt homered to left one out later. Goldschmidt's third-inning blast, his 12th of the season, came after Didi Gregorius had singled.

Eric Chavez added a solo homer for Arizona in the first and Cody Ross drove in runs with a sacrifice fly in the seventh and a single in the ninth.

Trevor Cahill (3-4) coasted to the win, allowing a run on five hits in eight innings. The loss went to Kevin Slowey (1-4), who gave up both of Goldschmidt's home runs and lasted just three frames.
