Lexi Thompson shares first-round lead

MOBILE, Ala., May 16 (UPI) -- Lexi Thompson shot her low score on the LPGA Tour this year Thursday, a 7-under 65 that gave her a share of the lead after one round of the Mobile Bay Classic.

Eun-Hee Ji, winner of the 2009 U.S. Women's Open, was tied for Thompson after a day of low scoring at the Crossings Course, which is part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove.

Thompson, 18, is seeking her second tour title and is trying to break through in a year that has been mildly disappointing. She has only one top 10 finish in eight previous starts.

Jessica Korda was alone in third place at 66 while the group at 67 included Nicole Castrale and Mina Harigae.

Defending champion Stacy Lewis, ranked second in the world, settled for a 70 that left her in a tie for 33rd.
