ST. LOUIS, May 15 (UPI) -- Carlos Beltran had three hits and four RBI Tuesday to lead the St. Louis Cardinals past the slumping New York Mets 10-4.
Beltran's tally included a three-run homer in the fifth to stake the Cards to a 9-0 lead and nail down their 11th win in their last 13 games.
The 11-hit outburst paved the way for John Gast (1-0) to win his Major League debut. Gast gave up four runs on six hits and struck out three.
Dillon McGee (2-5) suffered the loss after allowing six runs -- five earned -- over four innings.
