NEW YORK, May 15 (UPI) -- Raul Ibanez hit two home runs Wednesday, one of them a grand slam during a seven-run first that sent Seattle sailing to a 12-2 win over the New York Yankees.

Ibanez drove in six runs overall in helping the Mariners even the three-game series at 1-1. He also delivered a two-run blast in the fifth and Kyle Seager added a three-run shot in the sixth that closed out the scoring.

Hisashi Iwakuma (5-1) won his third straight start, giving up two runs on eight hits in seven innings. He allowed solo homers to Vernon Wells and Chris Stewart. New York lost for just the second time in nine games.

Seattle sent 11 men to the plate in the first inning, during which Phil Hughes (2-3) retired only two batters before being removed from the mound.
