Lawyers trade charges in Mario Williams' suit against ex-fiance

HOUSTON, May 14 (UPI) -- Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Mario Williams is suing former fiance Erin Marzouki in an effort to get the engagement ring back, court documents show.

Attorneys for the woman say the suit is frivolous and without merit.

Williams, who formerly played for the Houston Texans, filed suit last week in Harris County, Texas, seeking the return of a 10.08 carat diamond engagement ring after what his attorneys, Monica Schulz Orlando and Michael Gary Orlando, described as Marzouki's decision to end her engagement to Williams, the Houston Chronicle reported Tuesday.

Marzouki's lawyer, Tony Buzbee, said Monday Williams' suit inaccurately portrayed his client as a "charlatan gold digger," adding he will prove at a hearing in state district court Friday Williams is presenting "a stupid lawsuit because it has no legal merit, and it's a stupid lawsuit because it's not going to be good for his career. (Williams) is a victim of his emotions and of bad legal advice."

Buzbee said Williams and Marzouki dated over four years before their engagement, Williams broke off the engagement at least five times and told Marzouki several times after their final break-up she could keep the ring, which court documents say is valued at $785,000.
