SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., May 12 (UPI) -- Former Detroit Lions receiver Titus Young was in custody in California Sunday following his third arrest in less than a week, authorities said.
Orange County Sheriff's Department Lt. Joe Balicki told the newspaper Young was taken into custody in San Clemente late Friday and remained jailed on felony counts of burglary and assault on a police officer, and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.
Balicki said Young, 23, was arrested when deputies responded to a call of an unauthorized person inside a house and was found outside the residence, the Detroit Free Press reported.
The sheriff's spokesman said the ex-Lion fled officers then fought with them as he was being subdued.
The latest episode came after Young was arrested two times within 14 hours May 5 -- once for investigation of driving under the influence and later for allegedly jumping a fence at a tow company's storage yard in an effort to retrieve his impounded vehicle.
He was charged with burglary and released on $5,000 bail after those Riverside County incidents.
Young was awaiting a Monday court appearance, Balicki said.
The receiver was released by the Lions in February. The St. Louis Rams then claimed him off waivers, but released him 10 days later.
