SAN FRANCISCO, May 8 (UPI) -- Kyle Kendrick turned in a solid seven-inning start to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-2 win over the San Francisco Giants Tuesday.

Kendrick (4-1) scattered six hits over seven, allowed two runs and struck out six batters without issuing a walk.

Chase Utley provided the pop for the visiting Phillies by going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Ryan Howard homered in the ninth inning to secure the win for the Phils, who won their second game in a row.

Tim Lincecum (2-2) was handed the loss after being roughed up for five runs on nine hits. Marco Scutaro and Angel Pagan drove in the only two runs scored by the Giants, who have lost their last two games.
