MLB: Baltimore 5, Kansas City 3

BALTIMORE, May 8 (UPI) -- Nate McLouth stole both second and home during a three-run fifth inning Wednesday that propelled Baltimore to a 5-3 win over Kansas City.

The Orioles extended their winning streak to four games, taking command during an unconventional fifth inning and then holding off a Kansas City comeback bid.

Baltimore held a 2-1 lead heading into the fifth, which Chris Dickerson began with a double off Luis Mendoza (0-2).

McLouth reached on a throwing error by shortstop Alcides Escobar with Dickerson taking third on the play. McLouth stole second and took third on a base hit by Manny Machado that brought home Dickerson.

McLouth and Machado then executed a successful double steal, a play on which Escobar committed another error trying to cut down McLouth at home. Machado eventually scored the final run of the inning on a wild pitch.

J.J. Hardy supplied the other two Baltimore runs on a second-inning homer.

Chris Tillman (3-1) picked up the win, giving up three runs on five hits in six innings. Jim Johnson had the benefit of a double play in the ninth to claim his 13th save.

Mike Moustakas hit a two-run homer for the Royals in the sixth, who outhit Baltimore 7-5.
