Bobrovsky, Lundqvist Niemi are finalists for Vezina Trophy

NEW YORK, May 8 (UPI) -- Columbus's Sergei Bobrovsky, the Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist and San Jose's Antti Niemi are the finalists for the award given the NHL's top goaltender.

The award, formally known as the Vezina Trophy, is to be announced during the Stanley Cup finals. The list of finalists was announced by the NHL Wednesday.

Bobrovsky, 24, completed his first season in Columbus with a 21-11-6 record that included four shutouts. He was second in save percentage (.932) and sixth in goals-against average (2.00). He won eight of his last nine decisions, allowing 1.64 goals a game.

Lundqvist, 31, is a finalist for a fifth time and won the Vezina Trophy last year. He tied for the NHL lead in wins with 24. He had a 2.05 GAA and .926 save percentage.

Niemi, 29, also won 24 games in the regular season and had a 2.16 GAA, a .924 save percentage and four shutouts.
