PHILADELPHIA, May 6 (UPI) -- Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie says he married Tina Lai in a small, private ceremony, 10 months after announcing his divorce from his previous wife.

The wedding took place this past weekend in front of close friends and family, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

"I am happy and excited as Tina and I begin our lives together," Lurie, 61, said in a statement.

Lai, 39, was born in Vietnam and moved to the United States with her family, which owns several Vietnamese restaurants in Philadelphia, in 1978.

The wedding came after Lurie announced in July that he and Christina Weiss Lurie were getting divorced after 20 years of marriage.

Jeffrey Lurie maintained full control of the Eagles in the divorce settlement; however, Christina remains a part owner and serves as president of the Eagles Youth Partnership.

"I've structured this franchise around having complete control, [including] 100 percent voting and total, final decision-making," Lurie said in August. "That continues. I've always had a couple of limited partners that were non-voting and not involved in decisions, football decisions particularly. That continues. Christina will also be a limited partner as she has been, just like the other limited partners."
