VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 4 (UPI) -- Raffi Torres scored 5:31 into overtime Friday, giving San Jose a 3-2 win over Vancouver that put the Sharks in control of their playoff series.

San Jose has a 2-0 lead in the series, which heads to Vancouver for games on Sunday and Tuesday.

The Sharks rolled to a 5-1 victory in the series opener Wednesday, but appeared headed for a loss in this one until Patrick Marleau scored with 56 seconds left in regulation to forge a 2-2 tie.

Torres won it by putting a slap shot past Roberto Luongo.

San Jose's Joe Thornton scored a first-period goal and the Sharks maintained their 1-0 lead through two periods.

Ryan Kesler then scored twice during the first 7:06 of the third period to give Vancouver the lead.

Antti Niemi made 29 saves to get the victory. Luongo was touched for three goals on 33 shots.

The Sharks joined Chicago and St. Louis with 2-0 leads in the Western Conference quarterfinals. Only Detroit has won a road game thus far in the West and is even with Anaheim at 1-1.
