MLB: Detroit 17, Houston 2

HOUSTON, May 4 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI and Victor Martinez drove in four runs Saturday, powering the Detroit Tigers over Houston 17-2.

Cabrera provided a two-run home run, a solo shot, two RBI singles and a run-producing walk. Martinez hit a two-run homer to go with a two-run double as the Tigers had 21 hits.

Torii Hunter went 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored and Jhonny Peralta added a pair of run-scoring hits for Detroit, which logged a third consecutive win over the Astros.

Max Scherzer (4-0) notched his third victory in three starts, surrendering one run on three hits over eight innings. The right-hander struck out eight while yielding two walks.

Houston's Lucas Harrell (3-3) was pounded for eight runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Carlos Corporan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for the Astros, who dropped a fifth straight overall and ninth in 10 games.
