Pavlyuchenkova rallied from a first-set shutout for a 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 decision over Romina Oprandi. Pavlyuchenkova won just 29 percent of the points in the first set but 60 percent the rest of the way.
After losing all three break points she faced in the first set, Pavlyuchenkova dropped serve just once more -- the only game she lost in the third set. She ended up with five breaks, four in the final set.
Suarez Navarro avenged a loss to Kaia Kanepi in last year's Portugal Open final with a 6-4, 6-1 win in 66 minutes. She had three breaks in each set.
Pavlyuchenkova is 4-0 all-time versus Suarez Navarro. Pavlyuchenkova, who won last month's tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, is looking for her fifth career final. Suarez Navarro is 0-4 in WTA finals, including a loss at Acapulco, Mexico, in March.
