ANAHEIM, Calif., May 3 (UPI) -- Gustav Nyquist scored a power-play goal 1:21 into overtime Thursday, bringing Detroit a 5-4 decision over Anaheim.

The Red Wings let a three-goal lead disappear in the third period, but managed to even the Western Conference quarterfinal series at a game each. Detroit will host the next two games of the series on Saturday and Monday.

Johan Franzen produced a Detroit goal just 20 seconds into the third period to give the Red Wings a 4-1 lead, but the Ducks scored three times in a 10-minute span to force overtime.

The Anaheim goals came from Ryan Getzlaf, Kyle Palmieri and Bobby Ryan -- all of against Jimmy Howard.

Detroit avoided what would have been a crushing setback, however, when Nyquist came through while Sheldon Souray was in the penalty box for slashing.

Franzen scored twice for the Red Wings as part of an early surge that gave Detroit a 3-0 lead.

Jonas Hiller took the loss, allowing the five Detroit goals on 32 shots. Howard made 28 saves for the Red Wings.
