ANAHEIM, Calif., May 3 (UPI) -- Chris Tillman allowed three hits over eight scoreless innings Thursday, lifting Baltimore to a 5-1 triumph over the Los Angeles Angels.
Tillman (2-1) walked two batters in the first, allowed a single in the second and then retired the Angels in order in five of the next six innings. He struck out three and threw 114 pitches before giving way in the ninth inning to Jim Johnson, who gave up a home run to Albert Pujols that prevented a shutout.
Baltimore held only a 1-0 lead through five innings, the first Orioles run coming on an RBI single by Manny Machado in the third.
Chris Davis doubled home a run in the sixth, Nick Markakis also had an RBI double in the seventh and Nate McLouth hit a two-run homer in the ninth.
Joe Blanton (0-5) remained winless with an eight-inning performance in which he allowed three runs on eight hits.
