TIANJIN, China, May 2 (UPI) -- Robert-Jan Derksen shot a 6-under-par 66 Thursday and leads the European Tour's Volvo China Open by two strokes after one round of play.

Brett Rumford, who on Sunday won his first European Tour tournament in six years, is tied with Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Raphael Jacquelin for second at 4-under. Six players are at 3-under 69.

Derksen opened his round with a birdie but dropped back with bogeys at Nos. 3 and 4. He had five birdies over a seven-hole span ending on the 12th hole and closed with birdies on two of the last three holes.

Rumford and Jacquelin were both bogey-free Thursday while Aphibarnrat had one bogey in his 4-under day.
