ANAHEIM, Calif., May 1 (UPI) -- Teemu Selanne scored the game-winning goal in the Anaheim Ducks' 3-1 victory in the opener of their Western Conference playoff series against Detroit Tuesday.

The ageless Selanne scored on a power play at 1:29 of the third period to break a 1-1 tie, and Jonas Hiller stopped 21-of-22 shots on goal, 11 of which came in the third.

Nick Bonino also capitalized on a power play for Anaheim in the first period. Francois Beauchemin added an empty-netter late in the final period.

Daniel Cleary scored the only Detroit goal. Jimmy Howard allowed two goals on 26 shots.
