MLB: San Francisco 2, Arizona 1

May 1, 2013 at 1:01 AM

PHOENIX, May 1 (UPI) -- Pablo Sandoval hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning Tuesday to rally the San Francisco Giants to a 2-1 win on the road over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Sandoval's knock with one out nullified the 1-0 lead the D-Backs took in the previous inning on Josh Wilson's solo home run.

The loss went to Arizona closer J.J. Putz (2-1), who blew his fourth save of the season.

Sandy Rosario (1-0) earned his first Major League win by getting the final out of the eighth. Sergio Romo got the save with a perfect ninth inning.

Giants starter Madison Bumgarner allowed three hits over seven shutout innings. Trevor Cahill had a solid start for Arizona, allowing one run on four hits in eight innings.
