CHICAGO, May 1 (UPI) -- Nick Hundley and Carlos Quentin each belted a three-run homer Tuesday and San Diego unleashed a 17-hit attack in its 13-7 win over the Chicago Cubs.
Hundley and Quentin each had three hits, Quentin scored three times and Yonder Alonso went 3-for-5 with a two-run shot for the Padres, who rebounded from a 5-3 loss in the opener of their four-game series.
Jedd Gyorko added two hits, including a two-run double, in the victory.
Edinson Volquez (2-3) notched the win, surrendering four runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Cubs starter Edwin Jackson (0-4) was lit up for eight runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 frames. The right-hander's ERA ballooned to 6.27 with the defeat.
Luis Valbuena and Starlin Castro each socked a two-run homer while David DeJesus and Cody Ramson added bases-empty clouts for the Chicago.
