Eleven 3-year-old fillies are set to start in the Oaks but Dreaming of Julia was posted as the 3-1 morning-line favorite off her 21 3/4-length victory in the Grade II Gulfstream Oaks. She is one of four starters from the stable of trainer Todd Pletcher. One of the others, Unlimited Budget, is undefeated. Dreaming of Julia, a daughter of A.P. Indy, has four wins from six starts.
The Oaks is the highlight of Friday's card at Churchill Downs -- a day that has grown in popularity to rival the Kentucky Derby, with a large contingent of locals filling the grandstand under the iconic Twin Spires.
The weather forecast includes the possibility of scattered showers on Oaks Day and showers during the day on Derby Day.
