MLB: Houston 9, New York Yankees 1

NEW YORK, April 29 (UPI) -- Carlos Corporan went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer and four RBI Monday, igniting the Houston Astros' 9-1 rout of the New York Yankees.

Corporan put the Astros ahead 3-0 in the first inning with a two-run double and added a two-run shot during a five-run fifth that broke the game open.

Brandon Barnes added three hits and three RBI while Jose Altuve, Brandon Laird, Chris Carter and Carlos Pena each supplied a pair of hits for Houston, which improved to 2-8 all-time against the Yankees.

Lucas Harrell (3-2) tamed New York on one run over 6 1/3 innings, working around eight hits and walk while striking out four as the Astros snapped a four-game skid in the first of a three-set road series.

New York starter Andy Pettitte (3-2) was roughed up for seven runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 frames.

Vernon Wells drove in the only run for the Yanks, whose four-game winning streak came to an end.
