ATLANTA, April 29 (UPI) -- Andrelton Simmons' seventh-inning sacrifice fly Monday sent Gerald Laird home with the go-ahead run in the Atlanta Braves' 3-2 win over Washington.

With the score tied 2-2 in the seventh, Laird drew a leadoff walk from Tyler Clippard (1-1), went to second on Tyler Pastornicky's sacrifice bunt and to third on Jordan Schafer's single.

Simmons followed with a fly ball to right, allowing Laird to score the decisive run.

Jordan Walden (1-0) tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory. Eric O'Flaherty hurled a 1-2-3 eighth and Craig Kimbrel closed out the win with his ninth save.

Laird and Justin Upton each added an RBI for the Braves, who snapped a four-game skid in the first of four-game home series.

Chad Tracy and Kurt Suzuki each drove in a run for the Nationals.
