Taylor amassed a 337-433-55 record as Yale's coach, and was head coach of the U.S. hockey team at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Sweden, in 1994, the Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported.
Taylor died Saturday, two weeks after Yale defeated Quinnipiac to win the NCAA championship, the newspaper noted.
"We've lost one of the giants in coaching in our country," said USA Hockey President Ron DeGregorio in a statement. "It's hard to imagine there is anyone more passionate about the game than Tim was."
