CHICAGO, April 26 (UPI) -- Corey Crawford allowed only a shorthanded goal in the second period and made 25 saves Friday in lifting the Chicago Blackhawks over Calgary 3-1.

The Flames ended their season with four straight losses and a 19-25-4 record that caused them to miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year.

Chicago, which will close out its regular campaign Saturday, will enter the playoffs with the NHL's best record.

Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews scored first-period goals, but Calgary gave itself a chance for a season-closing victory when Chris Butler scored midway through the middle stanza.

Crawford then shut down the Flames and Marcus Kruger added a Chicago goal in the third.

Joey MacDonald made 35 saves for Calgary.
