MLB: Texas 11, Los Angeles Angels 3

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 25 (UPI) -- Nelson Cruz finished off a nine-run fourth inning with a three-run homer Wednesday and the Texas Rangers went on to romp past the Los Angeles Angels 11-3.

The Rangers, who have yet to lose a series this season, won two of three from the Angels and have captured five of six overall.

Texas turned the game into a rout by sending 13 men to the plate in the fourth against three Los Angeles pitchers.

Angels' starter Michael Roth (1-1) allowed the first five batters to reach in the fourth and eventually was charged with five runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings.

The Angels had a chance to get out of the inning with only three runs having scored, but Lance Berkman produced a two-run, two-out single. Ian Kinsler then scored from third on a wild pitch thrown by reliever David Carpenter and Cruz soon followed with his three-run homer to close out the big inning.

All of that made things easy for Texas starter Yu Darvish (4-1), who was taken out of the game after throwing 100 pitches through six scoreless innings. He struck out 11 and gave up just three hits.

The Angels scored three runs in the eighth, when Peter Bourjos drove in a run and then scored on a J.B. Shuck single to right.
