ANAHEIM, Calif., April 23 (UPI) -- A.J. Pierzynski smacked a go-ahead homer in the ninth inning Monday and Texas rallied from three runs down to overcome the Los Angeles Angels 7-6.

The Angels had grabbed a 6-3 lead with three runs in the sixth but the Rangers responded quickly with three of their own in the next frame, ignited by Pierzynski's run-scoring single.

Texas notched the tying run when Adrian Beltre scored from third as Angels pitcher Scott Downs misplayed Jeff Baker's infield chopper.

Then with two outs in the ninth, Pierzynski bashed a pitch from Ernesto Frieri (0-1) into the right field stands, putting the Rangers on top.

Joe Nathan came on to record his sixth save while Tanner Scheppers (2-0) got the decision with two innings of scoreless relief as Texas racked up a fourth straight triumph.

Josh Hamilton went 4-for-4 with two runs scored while Howie Kendrick, Chris Iannetta and Luis Jimenez each drove in a pair of runs for Los Angeles.
