BUCHAREST, Romania, April 22 (UPI) -- Eighth-seeded Viktor Troicki opened play at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy tennis tournament with a straight-set win Monday.

Troicki, the only seeded player on the day's schedule, got past Marinko Matosevic 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. Troicki lost serve once in each set but cashed in all three of his break opportunities.

David Goffin rolled past local favorite Adrian Ungur 6-3, 6-1 in 55 minutes. Goffin won nearly two-thirds of the points in the match -- 72 percent in the second set. He took 75 percent of the points on serve. Goffin won more than half the points off Ungur's serve and was 4-of-5 in break opportunities.

In the third first-round match, Daniel Brands stopped Tatsuma Ito 6-3, 6-4. Brands, despite losing his service once, lost 14 points in 10 service games.
