LOS ANGELES, April 22 (UPI) -- Jeff Carter's 25th goal of the season came with 52 seconds left in overtime Sunday and handed the Los Angeles Kings a 4-3 win over Dallas.

On the play, the rebound of Mike Richards' shot caromed off Carter's shoulder and glove and past Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen, giving the Kings their fourth win in five games.

Carter also notched a pair of assists, Dustin Brown scored twice and Richards found the net in the first period for Los Angeles, seeded fourth in the Western Conference.

Jonathan Quick made 24 saves in the victory.

Alex Goligoski provided and goal and helper while Loui Eriksson and Antoine Roussel each scored for Dallas, which earned a much-needed point in its quest for a West playoff spot.

The Stars ended Sunday with 48 points, three behind Columbus for the eighth and final post-season slot with three contests to play and a game in hand over the Blue Jackets.

Lehtonen finished with 27 saves.
