NEWARK, N.J., April 20 (UPI) -- Patrik Elias scored twice and the New Jersey Devils reeled off six straight goals Saturday in a 6-2 win over Florida, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

After spotting the Panthers an early 2-0 lead, the Devils roared back as Elias scored late in the first period and then added the equalizer 2 minutes into the second.

David Clarkson put New Jersey ahead to stay midway through the second while Ryan Carter, Stephen Gionta and Dainius Zubrus each added a marker.

Carter, Clarkson and Gionta supplied one assist each for the Devils, who came into the contest eight points out of the eighth and final Eastern Conference post-season slot.

Martin Brodeur needed to make only 11 stops to register the win.

Marcel Goc and Brian Campbell each netted a goal and Jacob Markstrom turned aside 27 shots for Florida.
