Rookie shares lead on PGA Tour

HILTON HEAD, S.C., April 19 (UPI) -- Steve LeBrun, a rookie on the PGA Tour at age 35, grabbed a share of the lead Friday in the second round of the RBC Heritage.

LeBrun, Kevin Streelman and Charley Hoffman were tied for the top at 6-under 136 when play was halted by rain late in the round. There were 17 players still on the Harbour Town Golf Links when the action was suspended, but none of them had a chance to join the co-leaders.

LeBrun made it onto the tour by finishing tied for second in last December's qualifying tournament and this is his ninth event of 2013. He has now made the cut in four of those tournaments with his best finish having been a tie for 24th at the Puerto Rico Open.

LeBrun shot his second straight 68 Friday while both Streelman and Hoffman had a 70.

Luke Donald and Bill Haas were tied for fourth at 137 while former U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell was part of the large group at 138.

First-round leader Brian Davis struggled to a 75 in the gusting winds and wound up in a tie for 25th place at 2-under 140.

Although the cut was not official because of the inability to complete the second round, it was projected to be 143. John Daly was among those certain to miss the cut, having shot an 81 Friday for a 152 total.
