NHL: San Jose 3, Los Angeles 2 (SO)

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 17 (UPI) -- Raffi Torres scored the deciding shootout goal in San Jose's 3-2 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Kings Tuesday.

Torres' backhander through the five-hole was the only score of the shootout and was enough to move the Sharks into a tie with the Kings for the No. 4 slot in the Western Conference playoff grid.

Brent Burns had a goal and an assist in regulation for the Sharks, who won their second consecutive game. TJ Galiardi accounted for San Jose's other goal.

All of the scoring in regulation occurred in the second period. After Galiardi staked San Jose to a 2-0 advantage, the Kings came back with a power-play goal by Jake Muzin at 13:59 and the tying tally at 18:41 on a slap shot by Dustin Brown.

Jonathan Quick had 33 saves in the loss. Antti Niemi made 41 saves through regulation and overtime for San Jose.
