Vinci emerged with the win in her first final since last year's Dallas tournament, improving to 8-1 all-time in championship matches.

Kvitova fell for only the third time in 13 career title contests in just her second meeting with Vinci.

The Czech had scored a straight-set win over Vinci in the third round of the 2011 Wimbledon tournament, which ended with Kvitova's first career Grand Slam title.
