ST. LOUIS, April 12 (UPI) -- Shelby Miller and two relievers combined on a two-hitter Friday, lifting St. Louis to a 2-0 decision over Milwaukee.

Miller (2-0) gave up a single to Norichika Aoki to start the game and then retired 21 of the next 22 batters. Miller struck out eight and finally gave way to Trevor Rosenthal in the eighth.

After Rosenthal worked a perfect inning, Mitchell Boggs put two runners on in the Milwaukee ninth. Boggs, however, escaped the jam to pick up his second save.

Former St. Louis pitcher Kyle Lohse (0-1) took the loss, allowing two runs on six hits in seven innings.

David Freese singled in the first run for the Cardinals in the second and Yadier Molina tacked on a home run in the seventh.
