FORT WORTH, Texas, April 12 (UPI) -- Kyle Busch edged his brother Kurt in qualifying Friday to win the pole for Saturday's Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Kyle Busch set a track qualifying record with a speed of 196.299 miles per hour for his lap around the 1.5-mile track. The old mark of 196.235 had been set by Brian Vickers 7 years ago.

Kurt Busch turned in a lap at 195.688 mph.

This marks the second time the Busch brothers have finished 1-2 in qualifying for a Sprint Cup race, having also done so in 2009 at Las Vegas.

Aric Almirola, Marcos Ambrose and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the first five qualifiers.
