CALGARY, Alberta, April 11 (UPI) -- Maxime LaPierre gave Vancouver the lead in the third period Wednesday and the Canucks pulled away to defeat Calgary 4-1.

The Canucks won their fourth in a row and moved six points in front of Minnesota in the battle for the Northwest Division title.

It was a 1-1 deadlock when LaPierre scored his third goal of the season, getting the best of Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff with 7:23 left in regulation. Mason Raymond added an insurance goal less than 3 minutes later and Daniel Sedin tacked on a score with 2:33 to play.

Roberto Luongo made 40 saves to get the win. Kiprusoff gave up all four goals on 29 shots.
