PHILADELPHIA, April 10 (UPI) -- Chase Utley and Domonic Brown accounted for all the scoring in a five-run first inning Wednesday that sent Philadelphia to a 7-3 win over the New York Mets.

Utley hit a two-run homer and Brown a three-run blast in starting the Phillies to their second straight victory over the Mets. It was Philadelphia's first series win of the season.

Laynce Nix added a two-run homer in the sixth that gave the Phillies a 7-2 lead and made things easy for Kyle Kendrick.

Kendrick (1-1) allowed two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts over six innings to get the win.

New York's starter made it through only three innings for the second straight game. Jeremy Hefner (0-2) surrendered five runs on six hits with three walks.

All of the Mets' scoring came on solo homers -- two by Lucas Duda and one from John Buck.
