MLB: Atlanta 8, Miami 0

MIAMI, April 10 (UPI) -- Home runs by Evan Gattis and Juan Francisco accounted for five runs in a six-run fifth Wednesday, sending Atlanta to an 8-0 victory over Miami.

Mike Minor threw 101 pitches over 5 2/3 innings and teamed with two relievers on the shutout. Minor (2-0) gave up five hits and struck out four.

The game was scoreless heading into the fifth, but Gattis hit a three-run homer in that inning and Francisco added a two-run shot.

The Braves extended its winning streak to six games and boosted the best record in the majors to 8-1. Andrelton Simmons added two RBI with a single in the fifth and a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Alex Sanabia (1-1) was charged with the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in five innings.
