PHILADELPHIA, April 9 (UPI) -- Cliff Lee
held the Mets to two earned runs over 8 2/3 innings Tuesday and Philadelphia backed him with three homers in the Phillies' 8-3 win over New York.
Lee (2-0) yielded three runs in all on eight hits, didn't walk a batter and logged six strikeouts, turning in his second straight strong outing to start the season.
Michael Young homered, tripled and singled while Ryan Howard and John Mayberry each hit their first homers of 2013 in the Phils' win.
New York starter Dillon Gee (0-2) absorbed the loss, surrendering seven runs on 10 hits over just three innings.
John Buck went deep for the Mets, whose three-game winning streak was broken.
