T-Wolves' Love to have knee surgery

MINNEAPOLIS, April 8 (UPI) -- Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love, already out with a broken hand, will undergo season-ending knee surgery, the team said Monday.

Love, who has missed the T-Wolves' last 47 games while recovering from surgery on the third and fourth metacarpal in his right hand, will now have a procedure done on his left knee.

The surgery, to be performed by Dr. David Altchek later this week, is meant to clean out a buildup of scar tissue in the knee.

Since the recovery time is 4-to-6 weeks, Love is officially out for the rest of the season.

The fifth-year veteran has played in just 18 games in 2012-13. He averaged 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds in his limited action.
