Mayor: Deal near on Dolphins' stadium

MIAMI, April 8 (UPI) -- A "framework" of a deal has been reached to use local government funds to update the stadium where the Miami Dolphins play, the Miami-Dade mayor said Monday.

Attorneys for both sides met at Sun Life Stadium Sunday and worked "literally through the night" on plans for the facility, Carlos Gimenez said.

"I think we have a framework for an agreement between the Dolphins and Dade County," the mayor said in a Miami Herald report.

"One or two items" still need to be resolved for the renovation of the stadium, he said.

The mayor said he hoped to quickly deliver a package outlining the arrangement to county commissioners so a special meeting could be scheduled for Wednesday.
