Ryan Media falls from horse after victory

HEXHAM, England, April 7 (UPI) -- The Grand National-winning jockey, Ryan Mania, fell from his horse Sunday at an English racecourse and was airlifted to the hospital, officials said.

Mania, 23, rode to a 66-1 victory on Auroras Encore at Aintree less than 24 hours before the fall at the Hexham Racecourse, The Independent reported.

"He came off his horse at high speed and may have been hit by another horse while he was on the ground," a spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance said.

Medics treated Media for over 30 minutes before he left the track and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, The Independent said.

A Hexham Racecourse spokesman said that Mania was conscious and talking when he left the racecourse.
