PORTLAND, Ore., April 7 (UPI) -- Chris Kaman fired in 26 points and Shawn Marion added 20 Sunday to help Dallas build a big lead over Portland and then hold off the Trail Blazers 96-91.

Kaman grabbed 11 rebounds and Vince Carter added 14 points off the bench for the Mavericks, who built a 26-point advantage in the second half but had to turn back a late Trail Blazers rally to notch the win.

With the win, Dallas remained 2 1/2 games behind the Utah Jazz for the final Western Conference playoff spot.

Portland, out of the playoff picture for the second straight year, got a career-high 22 points, 13 rebounds and six assists off the bench from Will Barton.

LaMarcus Aldridge added 18 points for the Blazers.
